Job description: Chief software engineer to coordinate a compact team of engineers and artificial intelligence specialists. The team is developing a framework for scheduling astronomical observations using ground-based and spaceborne telescopes.

The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of C++, object oriented design patterns, CI/CD, version control and software development cycles. He/she will also have two or more years of experience in leading C++ projects and their respective teams.

The responsibilities will include the management of the team and the software, negotiation with international clients regarding technical aspects (requirements, testing, documentation, etc.), implementation roadmaps, and deliveries. She/he will also contribute to the architectural design and code development, and support junior engineers.

The main working language is English, written and spoken.

Possibility of partial remote work.

Conditions: The contract is full time, with a salary according to CSIC official salary scale (between ~35k and ~39k depending on the value of the candidate). Hiring procedures will be CSIC standard hiring procedures.
