If you are a graduate or undergraduate student and you would like to pursue a research career, we offer several opportunities in our institute, such as doing a Bachelor or Master thesis with us. We also accept official curricular internships, valid for universities. Most of the topics for Bachelor or Master thesis can be possibly downscaled for an internship project. Please bear in mind that we cannot host informal or summer internships.

AWARD | Program to support introduction to scientific research

These awards aim to offer competitive financial aid for the introduction to research of young university students with good academic performance. The ICE-CSIC wants to offer students the opportunity to collaborate with a research group as the first step in the professional development of young researchers.

JAE Intro Programme

The JAE Intro programme offers grants at CSIC centres (CSIC-owned, mixed or partner units) aimed at university students interested in starting a research career.

This scholarship programme provides an approach to a research career to those students who want to take their first steps in research. JAE Intro grants present the opportunity of enjoying the possibilities offered by CSIC Centres and Institutes in their different scientific areas and, at the same time, they provide an introduction to cutting-edge knowledge of scientific topics and scientific praxis.

Scholarships

What kind of scholarships can I apply for?

The potential scholarships include the FPI, (granted by the Spanish State Research Agency), FPU (granted by the Spanish Ministry of Education) and FI (for students from a Catalan university or research center) programmes. These calls usually open towards the end of the year. Other possible funding for a PhD come from European projects, and these positions are also announced in our website.

What are the main research areas of ICE researchers?

Our research strategy focuses on these questions: What is our universe made of? How matter and fields behave in extreme conditions? Are we alone in the universe?

We are involved in engineering, theoretical and observational astrophysics, cosmology, gravitational waves, physics in extreme conditions, Earth observation, exoplanets and the solar system, among others. Find more about our research lines here.
